FDIC Problem Bank List Grows

Suzanne Kapner writes at ft.com that the FDIC has announced that there were 702 problem banks on their watch list at the end of 2009.  This is up from 552 at the end of the third quarter. This is far short of the potential number of banks that could get in trouble from the collapse in CRE (commercial real estate), which was put at nearly 3,000 in the recent report from Congressional Oversight Panel (Elizabeth Warren, Chair).
