Verizon's (VZ) agreement to buy $3.6B of spectrum from a group of cable companies ramps up pressure on AT&T (T), which has met resistance to its plan to acquire T-Mobile (DTEGY.PK) over competitiveness concerns, in part because AT&T would leapfrog Verizon in total customers. Verizon's deal wouldn't seem to present such a regulatory challenge, since the added spectrum was otherwise unused.
