Reuters reports that Malaysia's Petronas is in talks with Shell (RDS.A), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Dow Chemical (DOW), and a host of Japanese firms as it eyes developing petrochemical plants within a planned $20B refinery complex. Industry insiders forecast that the boom of oil infrastructure in the southern part of Malaysia will create a "Greater Singapore" trading hub that could help the region compete with China.
