North American consumers appear to be souring on 3D TVs: DisplaySearch reports 3D sets accounted for a lower share of TV sales in the region in Q3 than the 10%+ share reported for Q2. However, penetration rates are rising elsewhere, and have passed 15% in Western Europe and China. Both TV makers such as a SNE and panel makers such as AUO and LPL are counting on 3D sets to bolster their average selling prices.
