Borrowing from the ECB by Italian lenders soared to €210B last month, accounting for nearly 25% (vs. 10% in June) of the liquidity pumped out by the central bank. Additionally, ECB sovereign debt purchases grew to over €1.1B last week (though its unknown how much was Italian paper). Still, Italian banks continue to tumble and the country's 10-year bond yield remains stuck above 7%.
