Sinn Fein threatens legal action if the Irish government tries to approve the new EU treaty without putting it up for a referendum. The last time the Irish had their say, they roundly rejected the Lisbon Treaty in 2007; with the government now dependent on the EU for funding, it can ill-afford a rejection now.
