LSI has bought a license for ARM's (ARMH) high-end Cortex-A15 processor cores. The Cortex-A15 is considerably more powerful (and carries higher royalties) than the ARM11 cores used in many LSI chips, and LSI's stated intention of using the cores in networking chips suggests they could displace IBM's PowerPC cores in its Axxia processor line.
