European markets slide lower, as investors digest mixed economic data from the continent and the Fed's potential move.

With stocks on the defensive, bonds are enjoying a steady bid, as the 10-year Treasury sits just off its high with the yield down four bps at 2.81%.

U.S. regulators are set to introduce details of the Volcker rule intended to limit banks' risk taking, which could take a significant bite out of bank profits.
