Reuters' John Kemp sees China's growing dependence on oil imports becoming a security concern as it seeks to increase its influence in the Middle East and Africa, which will "undoubtedly lead to increased competition" with the U.S. While U.S. oil imports likely will be cut nearly in half by 2035, China's oil imports are set to surge to more than ~12M bpd in the period.
