U.S. sales of video game hardware, software and accessories plunged 31% in June vs. last year to $1.17B, the steepest drop since Sept. 2000 in what was until recently touted as a recession-proof industry. NPD's Anita Frazier tried to spin the number positively, saying the decline could point to gamers waiting for a "big event (must have new title, hardware price cut)."
