Isn't there already an SEC that is supposed to be doing this stuff? The organization that gave us Madoff, Stanford, Enron, Adelphia, Worldcom, and on and on.Yes, there needs to be a governmental organization to keep the greedy under control. No, I don't believe that our elected officials are capable of creating this type of organization which would in the end be detrimental to their re-election financing. I can only hope I am wrong. When the greed and the power become too closely related, as it is now, it is the little people (us commoner voters) who lose. @coloneldebuggerRight, like the FDA and DOA do nothing to make sure that the drugs you take and the food you eat don't kill or harm you. Of course, we can go back to the age of snake oil salesman and patent medicine. I am sure the market will figure it out. Sure, some people might get sick or even die in the process but so what.I hate this knee jerk, negative reaction to all things government from the majority of people on this website. No thinking is involved, just pure blind ideology. You know the history of police department corruption is long and well documented. Books have been written and movies have been made about corrupt officers of the law. And the record of police corruption is surely longer than lets say some welfare office. So, should we get rid of police departments then?
