Bernanke is just another political operative saying what the politics of the day dictate. He thinks he is protecting the people from the themselves, but in reality he is protecting the politicians in Washington. Most democratic voters will just go back to playing their video games and in a couple of years wonder why no more games are being produced. I can hear it now, "What? Oh Bummer!"

If I understand this correctly - if we examined the Balance Sheet of Australia Central bank we would see that they hand "lent" 11 B Australian Dollars to us!
