India's sugar output, the second largest globally, is likely to fall 25% in 2009 to 20MM tons, worse than the 22MM tons forecast by the International Sugar Organization earlier this month. Raw sugar prices are up 26% this year, but farmers are switching to corn, rice and soybeans as their prices rise faster.
