VW shares drop after statement on emissions

Volkswagen (OTCPK:VLKAY) shares are heading south after the carmaker disclosed that former executives Martin Winterkorn and Herbert Diess were briefed internally about diesel emissions issues on U.S. vehicles, months before the firm publicly acknowledged its defeat devices.

At issue is whether VW management waited too long to inform investors of potential liabilities that would later cause a massive erosion of the company's share price and market value.

Volkswagen -1.9% in Frankfurt.
