- Davis Advisors now has three, totally transparent actively-managed ETFs - Davis Select U.S. Equity ETF (NASDAQ:DUSA), Davis Select Financial ETF (NASDAQ:DFNL), and Davis Select Worldwide ETF (NASDAQ:DWLD).
- They launched in mid-January and release holdings information daily - a pretty big deal in the actively-managed space where most guard their secret sauce, writes Crystal Kim in Barron's. Three picks from the funds:
- Markel (NYSE:MKL): A growth company disguised as an insurance company, says Davis. "If you want to build wealth, you want to look at the secular success of companies,” he says, expecting normalized book value growth of 12-14% over time.
- United Technologies (NYSE:UTX): “It’s a value investors dream to buy a super, high-quality company at a reasonable price,” says Davis, who stepped in when news of slowing Chinese growth dinged the stock.
- Naspers (OTCPK:NPSNY): He's a fan of the South African media conglomerate as a cheap way to get exposure to China's Tencent (Naspers has a 34% stake).
