Beating its chest as part of a new wave of monster films, Kong: Skull Island dominated the U.S. box office over the weekend, though the falloff for last week's topper Logan wasn't bad and the film did nice business during the week.
Kong (TWX -0.1%) roared to $61M domestically and added another $81.6M in foreign markets. Logan (FOX +0.8%, FOXA +0.4%) lost 57% of its business -- but off a solid debut at $88.4M to land at No. 2 with $37.85M.
Meanwhile, Logan's worldwide take grew to $438.3M on the strength of its own foreign performance ($285.6M vs. domestic $152.7M).
