Husky Energy starting cleanup at Alberta oil spill

Husky Energy (OTCPK:HUSKF) says cleanup is underway at a crude oil pipeline spill last Thursday into the Cox Hill Creek west of Calgary.

The Alberta Energy Regulator says the pipeline in question has been shut but the company is still working to isolate the oil; the leaked volume and cause are still unknown.

Husky operates the second largest network of oil and gas producer pipelines in Alberta, following Canadian Natural Resources; although it reported 20 pipeline leaks and ruptures in Alberta last year, the result equates to fewer than one leak or rupture per every 1,000 km of pipe last year, well below the industry average of four.
