- Following last week's similar Senate vote, the U.S. House has voted to repeal regulations governing consumer privacy protection at Internet service providers.
- A mostly party-line vote went 215-205 for repeal.
- The regulations had been approved last October in the Tom Wheeler-led FCC; the agency is now led by Republican Ajit Pai.
- If passed into law, the repeal will again allow service providers to sell consumer information including browsing history without customer consent.
- Major providers opposed the restrictions at the time, and will benefit from looser rules: T, VZ, CMCSA, CHTR, OTCPK:ATCEY, FTR, CTL, WIN, CCOI.
