Washington Post: Russian-bought ads spread on Google platforms

  • Google (GOOG, GOOGL) has uncovered evidence that Russian operatives used its platforms to interfere with the 2016 election, according to The Washington Post sources.
  • The disinformation campaign hit YouTube, Google’s DoubleClick ad network, and Gmail. 
  • The ads were funded with “tens of thousands of dollars” but didn’t trace back to the same “Kremlin-affiliated troll farm” that advertised on Facebook.
