Proto Labs acquires Rapid Manufacturing for $120M
- Proto Labs (NYSE:PRLB +5.6%) acquires quick-turn sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining supplier Rapid Manufacturing for $120M. This consists of $110M in cash and $10M in Proto Labs stock.
- "RAPID not only adds quick-turn and e-commerce-enabled sheet metal services to our portfolio, it also expands our machining capabilities to support larger and more complex projects," said CEO Vicki Holt.
- The combination of these two companies will provide customers with a single source for a variety of manufacturing services, including injection molding and 3D printing.
- RAPID's 2017 revenue is expected to be $45M and the transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
