Facebook hires ex-federal official as first cybersecurity chief

Facebook (FB -0.6%) has named its first head of cybersecurity, the latest move in a push toward securing the site against interference like Russian meddling in U.S. elections.

Nathaniel Gleicher has joined Facebook from cybersecurity firm Illumio, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He had previously been director for cybersecurity policy at the National Security Council and was senior counsel at the Department of Justice.
