Verizon (NYSE:VZ) is touting that it, Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) have come together on the first completed call using 3GPP-compliant 5G New Radio tech.

The test used Nokia's 5G technology on a NR prototype from Qualcomm, and using Verizon's millimeter wave spectrum.

Qualcomm's prototype has an optimized millimeter wave RF front-end design in a smartphone form factor, the companies say.

“Using the successful interoperability testing we conducted with Qualcomm as a basis, we’re now applying our standard-compliant 5G technology in this trial with Verizon to push the commercialization of 5G," says Nokia's Marc Rouanne.
