- Speaking to reporters, Deutsche Telekom (DTEGY -1.5%) CEO Tim Hoettges says a possible merger between Vodafone Germany (VOD +0.8%) and cableco Unitymedia (LBTYA +0.9%) is "impossible."
- Such a tie-up is foremost among the asset swaps that Liberty and Vodafone could pull off as talks between the two have renewed.
- But Hoettges says that would concentrate assets in an unfair manner and create a monopoly in parts of the domestic TV market.
- Regulators shouldn't clear any merger deal, and they won't, he says.
