China April producer inflation picks up for first time in seven months

|By:, SA News Editor

China's producer inflation picked up in April to 3.4% M/M, missing estimates of 3.5% bolstered by surging commodities prices and suggesting its industrial demand remains resilient even as trade tensions ratchet up with the United States.

But consumer inflation dipped to 0.2% M/M as food prices rose at a slower pace.

Core CPI which outstrips volatile food and energy prices, rose 2.0% in April, unchanged from March.
