ABIOMED (NASDAQ:ABMD) is heading into the S&P 500 as part of a series of index changes announced by Standard & Poor's.

The firm, part of the S&P MidCap 400, will replace Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE:WYN) in the 500; Wyndham Worldwide is heading for a spin-off that will make it more representative of a mid-cap firm, and so will head to the MidCap 400.

Meanwhile, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts (NYSE:WH-OLD), soon to spin off from Wyndham Worldwide, will join the MidCap 400 before next Friday's open. It will replace GameStop (NYSE:GME), now more representative of a small-cap; it goes to the SmallCap 600 to replace Fred's (NASDAQ:FRED), which was at the bottom of the 600.

And Perspecta (PRSP.W-OLD), set to spin off from DXT Technology (NYSE:DXC), will join the MidCap 400, replacing Office Depot (NYSE:ODP), which is heading to the SmallCap 600 to replace Roadrunner Transportation Systems (NYSE:RRTS).
