Twitter to buy anti-abuse software firm Smyte

Twitter (TWTR -3.2%) has agreed to buy anti-abuse software firm Smyte.

It's the company's first acquisition since Yes Inc., a year and a half ago.

Smyte was founded by engineers with backgrounds in spam, fraud and security; its addition could shore up what has been a frequent user complaint, that Twitter is slow to deal with abusive and harassing behavior (not to mention trolls and bots) on the platform.
