- With skinny-streaming rival AT&T (T +0.7%) offering its WatchTV bundle free to some wireless subscribers, Sling TV (DISH -1.1%) is responding with a free tier of its own.
- That comes with a new user interface and a la carte channels (no base subscription required), with more than 100 hours of ad-supported free content, including some movies and shows from TBS, HGTV, History Channel and others.
- The new interface rolls out first to returning Sling customers on Roku (ROKU -1.1%) devices, with others to come.
- Meanwhile, it's also increasing the base price of its Orange package by $5/month, to $25.
- "Our team works hard to negotiate fair programming deals, with the goal of keeping your price as low as possible," says Sling President Warren Schlichting in a post. "Programming fees, however, only go one direction, and that’s up!"
