Hobby Lobby is one of the most aggressive retailers bidding to fill the empty Toys "R" Us stores, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Burlington Stores (NYSE:BURL), TJX Companies (NYSE:TJX), Big Lots (NYSE:BIG), Scandanavian Designs, Ashley Homestore and Ollie's Bargain Outlet Holdings (NASDAQ:OLLI) are also active in trying to land some of the former toy store spaces that are sized between 20K to 25K square feet.

Fitness centers and specialty grocers are also expected to show interest in the larger standalone Toys "R" Stores (~35K square feet).
