U.S. authorities have charged former Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) employee Xiaolang Zhang with trade secret theft related to self-driving vehicle blueprints.

Xiaolang Zhang allegedly planned to work for a Chinese self-driving car startup and booked a last-minute flight out of the country after downloading the circuit board plan.

Apple’s self-driving vehicle competitors Uber (UBER) and Waymo were locked in a lengthy court battle over the theft of Waymo trade secrets by an engineer who later worked for Uber.
