Eni (E -1.1%) plans to start production of natural gas from its offshore Merakes project in Indonesia in 2021 under a new production sharing contract expected to be completed before Dec. 12, according to the country’s deputy energy minister.

Initial production at Merakes would total 155M cf/day of natural gas, rising to a forecast peak production of 391M cf/day, the minister says.

As part of the revised contracts, Eni and its partner Pertamina would take 67% of crude oil and 72% of natural gas production from the project while the Indonesian government would take the rest.
