Boeing (BA +3%) bumps higher after reporting Q4 deliveries of 238 commercial airplanes, up 14% from 209 reported a year ago and beating analyst consensus of 235 deliveries.

Of the total, 737 deliveries rose to 173 from 148 a year ago; deliveries in the defense, space and security program fell to 32 from 43 last year.

For the full year, Boeing delivered an annual record 806 aircraft to remain the world’s biggest planemaker for the seventh straight year but missed its target of 810-815 deliveries due to supplier problems that delayed shipments.

Rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF, OTCPK:EADSY), which will report its numbers later this week, met its own 800-jet target pending final audit but is expected to trail Boeing due to engine delays.
