Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI +0.3%), SK Telecom (SKM -0.5%) and Harman have signed a memorandum of understanding in which they'll jointly develop and commercialize connected-car applications for global markets.
The three came together at CES in Las Vegas on the arrangement.
They'll collaborate on an advanced automotive platform based on the ATSC 3.0 digital broadcasting standard, planned to provide drivers with in-vehicle HD TV broadcasts, HD map updates, secure firmware updates and V2X certificate management, using terrestrial facilities operated by Sinclair.
The companies will unveil the platform and its equipment and services at that National Association of Broadcasters show in April.
