- Viacom (VIA, VIAB) has held recent talks to get into video streaming via an acquisition of Tubi TV, The Information reports.
- Tubi is a free service that features investments from MGM and Lions Gate (LGF.A, LGF.B) among others.
- Viacom also approached Tubi rival Pluto TV (backed by Sky (OTCPK:SKYAY) and Scripps Networks (NASDAQ:DISCA)) late last year, according to the report.
- The move would differentiate Viacom from rivals setting up subscription video on demand considering that Tubi is free, ad-supported streaming video.
