Sanctions prompt Maduro to seek talks with Trump

"The U.S. has decided to follow the path of stealing Citgo from Venezuela," President Nicolas Maduro declared after the Trump administration imposed sanctions on its parent company - state-owned oil giant PDVSA.

Some licenses will be granted to continue work with PDVSA and Citgo, but those revenues will be held in a blocked account.

Seeking to alleviate the situation, Maduro offered to meet with President Trump for talks, according to his foreign minister Jorge Arreaza.
