A racketeering lawsuit filed against six retailers over steering accused shoplifters into taking $400 restorative justice classes has been dismissed by a federal judge.
The judge ruled that the plaintiffs didn't show that a conspiracy existed between Walmart (NYSE:WMT), Bloomingdale's (NYSE:M), Burlington Coat Factory (NYSE:BURL), Kroger (NYSE:KR), 99 Cents Only, Save Mart and Sportsman's Warehouse (NASDAQ:SPWH).
In some cases, the retailers allow accused shoplifters to take the classes from Utah-based Corrective Education to avoid prosecution.
