- Exxon Mobil (XOM -0.3%) has begun shutting its 369K bbl/day crude oil refinery in Beaumont, Tex., on Thursday morning because of flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda, Reuters reports.
- XOM said yesterday it was shutting the Beaumont chemical plant, which adjoins the refinery.
- The refinery, which is undergoing a major expansion, was swamped and shut by torrential rains from Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and was not able to fully return to service for 36 days.
