Germany boosts subsidies for electric vehicles

  • For models costing up to €40,000, the one-off payment will be lifted from €4,000 to €6,000.
  • For EVs costing more than €40,000, the incentive was fixed at €5,000. Hybrid cars, which run on both petrol and battery power, will also benefit from the new subsidy regime, and there are plans to increase the number of charging stations across Germany.
  • The cost will be shared between the German government and industry.
