Top Boeing engineer at center of 737 MAX crisis to retire - report

  • Boeing (NYSE:BA) Commercial Airplanes chief engineer John Hamilton, named in March to lead the company's response to the 737 MAX crisis, is retiring, the Seattle Times reports, citing an internal memo.
  • Hamilton had planned to retire last year but was asked to remain and help with the MAX's return to service efforts, according to the memo.
  • Hamilton reportedly will be replaced by Lynne Hopper, who in March took over his role as VP of engineering for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
