Global chip sales post a seventh-straight month of gains in Sept., +8.2% to $20.64B. For Q3, sales jumped 20% sequentially, but were down 10% from Q3 2008, to $51.7B. PC and cell phone sales "continue to run ahead of earlier forecasts," SIA says, while demand for industrial chips - a sector that had declined sharply - "showed initial signs of recovery."
