U.S. government deficit YTD exceeds full year FY2019

  • The U.S. government's total outlays exceeded its total receipts by $399B in May, according the monthly Treasury statement.
  • Fiscal YTD, the government's deficit comes to $1.88T, almost double the entire fiscal 2019 deficit of $984.4B.
  • The government's fiscal year starts on Oct. 1.
