- Yesterday, SolarWinds (NYSE:SWI) revealed more details into the breach of its Orion product, which allowed Russia-linked hackers into the networks of various federal agencies and business. The company said Orion, courtesy of hotfixes, now meets federal and state agency security requirements.
- Earlier, Microsoft added itself to the widening list of victims in the SolarWinds breach. The company "detected malicious SolarWinds binaries in our environment, which we isolated and removed" and hasn't found evidence the hack accessed production services or customer data.
- Cybersecurity names are showing strength today after the news, including enterprise and government security provider Fortinet (FTNT +4.8%), consumer cyber safety company NortonLifeLock (NLOK +2.3%), Palo Alto Networks (PANW +5.1%), and FireEye (FEYE +10.3%), which discovered the SolarWinds breach while investigating its own intrusion.
