- Entergy (NYSE:ETR) and Holtec International say they jointly submitted a license transfer application with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission requesting approval to transfer the NRC licenses for the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Michigan to Holtec following its shutdown and permanent defueling in 2022.
- The application details Holtec's plan to complete Palisades' dismantling, decontamination and remediation to NRC standards by 2041, more than 40 years sooner than if Entergy continued to own the facility.
- As part of the agreement, Holtec will provide job opportunities for 260 Entergy employees who currently work at Palisades.
- The NRC last month approved the license transfer for Entergy's Indian Point nuclear power plants in New York to Holtec for decommissioning.
