  • Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has five worker safety related investigations underway at Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) facilities, which are separate from the probe that prompted a temporary shutdown at a Brampton facility due to spiking COVId-19 cases.
  • Two of the new probes are directly attributed to COVId-19 safety and the other three to occupational health and safety, according to The Globe and Mail.
  • A freedom of information request by the publication discovered that over 100 employees at Amazon's warehouse in Bolton tested positive for COVID-19 at the end of last year. Other investigated locations include facilities in Concord, Scarborough, and another facility in Brampton.
  • Amazon has about 13,000 employees in Ontario.
  • Background: Earlier this month, local health officials closed Amazon's fulfillment center in Brampton for two weeks after COVID-19 cases increased significantly in the facility despite a decline in the surrounding area.
