- eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) gained 1.2% partly as the CEO said the company is looking at non-fungible tokens or NFTs.
- "We're looking at it and exploring opportunities as for how we can enable it on eBay in an easy way," CEO Jamie Iannone said in an interview on CNBC.
- NFTs have gained in popularity this year and are largely responsible for moves in stocks such as PLBY Group, the parent of Playboy, which has surged 367% this year and SPAC Mudrick Acquisition Corp. II, which has climbed 63%, on a deal to take Topps trading cards public.
- He said he's also looking at cryptocurrency as a potential new payment option for customers. He highlighted that the company now takes Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- "We'll continue to look at other options like cryptocurrency," Iannone said.
- Last week, eBay slides after guidance disappoints, downgrades pile up.
