- U.S. exporter Venture Global LNG has signed two 20-year deals with China's Sinopec (NYSE:SNP) to supply liquefied natural gas from the proposed Plaquemines plant in Louisiana, according to a document filed with the U.S. Department of Energy.
- Both deals are sales and purchase agreements, with volumes totaling 4M metric tons/year, and would be China's single largest LNG trade agreement in terms of volumes, Reuters reports.
- The deals brings the Plaquemines plant, with an export capacity of as much as 20M mt/year, closer to making a final investment decision which is expected by the end of this year.
- The news follows Cheniere Energy's recent announcement that China's ENN Natural Gas had signed a 13-year liquefied natural gas supply deal, in the first major U.S.-China LNG deal since 2018.
