Shopify names former Slack executive as new CTO

Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) named a new chief technology officer Monday, saying former Slack executive Allan Leinwand will join the Ottawa, Ont.-based e-commerce company and platform provider.
Shopify (SHOP) Chief Executive Tobi Lütke made the announcement of Leinwand as the company's new CTO in a brief post on Twitter. Prior to his joining Shopify, Leinwand had been head of engineering and operations at Slack.
In April, Shopify said CTO Jean-Michel Lemieux, and two other executives, would leave the company for various reasons.
Last week, Shopify and Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) announced a new partnership that will help artists sell their products more easily across the online platforms.
