Home price increases slow more than expected in September: Case-Shiller

  • September S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI:
  • HPI Composite: -20 (S.A.) +1.0% M/M vs. +1.2% consensus, +1.2% prior.
  • HPI Composite: -20 (N.S.A.) +0.8% M/M vs. +1.5% consensus, +0.9% prior.
  • HPI Composite: (N.S.A.) +19.1% Y/Y vs. +19.3% consensus, +19.7% prior.
  • "Housing prices continued to show remarkable strength in September, though the pace of price increases declined slightly," said Craig J. Lazzara, managing director at S&P DJI.
  • "All 20 cities saw price increases in September, and all 20 cities stand at their all-time highs," he added.
  • Phoenix's 33.1% Y/Y jump led all cities for the 28th straight month. In second place, Tampa rose 27.7% and Miami prices climbed 25.2%.
