- Baker Hughes (BKR +1.4%) opens higher after Bechtel awards it a "major" contract to provide gas turbines and centrifugal compressors to support the expansion of the Pluto LNG onshore processing facility in Australia; financial terms are not disclosed.
- Pluto Train 2 will process natural gas from the nearby offshore Scarborough field, and will have a capacity of ~5M tons/year of liquefied natural gas production.
- The construction of Pluto LNG's Train 2 builds on Baker Hughes' existing technology supply for Pluto LNG's first train, which Woodside Petroleum (OTCPK:WOPEF, OTCPK:WOPEY) has operated since 2012.
- Baker Hughes has begun trading as a Nasdaq-listed stock, a move the company said would provide greater cost savings.
