Timken to provide precision drives for Redstone solar power project

• The Timken Company (NYSE:TKR) has been selected by BrightSource Energy to provide advanced precision drives for the Redstone Solar Thermal Power project in Northern Cape, South Africa.
• Timken's solar-tracking technology, developed by its Cone Drive business, will be used to properly position Redstone's heliostat mirrors to reflect the sun's rays.
• Redstone, expected to begin commercial operations by the end of 2023, will be capable of generating up to 100MW. The facility will use molten salt to store energy from the sun, deliver electricity to 200K homes during peak demand.
