Chart Talk: Short squeeze trend looking long in the tooth

  • Looking at the charts, there may be a shift coming in the performance of heavily shorted stocks, according to BTIG.
  • Most-shorted names have outperformed least-shorted names by about 30% since the May lows of the S&P 500 (SP500) (NYSEARCA:SPY), BTIG Chief Market Technician Jonathan Krinsky wrote in a note Monday.
  • "Feels like that trend might be exhausting itself," Krinsky said.
  • See the stocks on the most crowded short list.
